Blood Brothers

I will be talking about talking about the 3 aspects of the documentary ‘Blood Brothers’.

This documentary has a powerful message and they portray it flawlessly. I will be talking about the editing style, lighting and their use of voice-overs within the documentary. Us the audience seeing what the director Steve was trying to show us.

Firstly of I want to talk about the editing style of this documentary. The edit is fast paced but it also let you connect with Rocky, Steve and the kid, it shows us multiple of stories at the same time. The way the title sequence was edited by introducing us to the kids in a way that it connects us with how their personalities are. Making us feel connected to them and part of them, also mixing those together and showing how he’s struggling and the kids are crying and they end up succeeding. All these different shots connect very nicely.

The lighting that has been used is mostly natural lighting I feel, as their budget was mainly used for traveling more than anything else. But however the lighting looks really good in most of the documentary, the lighting is not overdone.

Voice over played a big part in the documentary it made us connect to Rocky and Steve and the children and specifically how Steve and Rocky’s friendship is, in an interview Steve said, when Rocky came back to the USA we just sat and talked and I recorded him and that's where most of the voice over comes from.
