Casting Manager

Taking different roles in one project, helps you in challenging yourself to be successful in each position. I took the Director role on set, but for the entire production phase, I played the casting manager role and it was my first experience at it. For the Pre Production phase, I was responsible for accomplishing the casting

'Auditions' to choose 8 main actors and 3 extras. Also, I created the flyer and I tried to be creative so that it'll look attracting to the eye to grab our auditioners. Afterwards, with the help of our Producer, I created the call sheet and I sent texts and E-mails to the chosen actors to guarantee their appearance on time. After passing our pre production phase, we entered our production stage were it was all on set. During our shooting days, I communicated with actors effectively and introduced them to the required jobs they should do on set. Also, I directed them during the scenes and tried to make them impersonate the characters in the script. We had two days of shooting, the second day was an outdoor shoot and the temperature hit 47 degrees. The actors got mad, they all wanted to finish and leave which would've caused chaous for our footage. It was during Ramadan as well, which left the actors who were fasting furious. I tried talking to them individualy, and I tried to convince them that this is our final project and their co-operation should last with us till the end of the shooting. I could've done better in that area, I also should've noted each and every one of them before the day of our shooting. As a first experience, I could've done better in many areas. But luckily, I learned from my mistakes and that will help me for the upcoming projects.
