Directing
Taking the Director role was always a dream. I was inspired by my dad who started his journey by acting in our homeland, Syria. Afterwards he became a Director in Dubai and managed to direct more than 20 local series. Whenever I join him on set, my motivation grows to reach his position one day. As I wrote in my previous blogs, I was pointed as the director for our final project. There was one point that I didn't mention and it was that my position was shifted during our pre-production phase. I became the casting manager and the first AD because I had troubles submitting the paper work that I was supposed to hand in. I accepted that decision and I worked harder and tried to prove myself that I can do that job. At the beginning, I organized the auditions and the casting calls, and then I assisted our new director in every step she took. But when our shooting started and the members were on set, our director saw the chaos atmosphere and asked me to take the role again. I felt the challenge and I wanted to succeed in my following decisions. I managed to handle the actors moods during our exterior shooting, I organized the work with the DOP, and helped the producer to feel reliefed after we were done from our footage. In this project I discovered my mistakes and the skills I need to improve to become a better director. Its not only about visualizing the script and making it transform into moving images, It is when you have the leadership skills required, and when you can handle all the pressure just for the sake of your project. It is the first step on following each level dad lived through to reach to his position, and I can say I'm excited and I feel energetic to continue the path and reach its maximum level.
