The Hard Work Just Started
We're off to work now! I think it's a little bit too early but yes, our class is now ordered to start all our pre production process. We're getting more introduced on techniques needed for scriptwriting as it's the first learning outcome we should be able to accomplish. I was asked to read a book because I haven't done that lately, so I can develop my writing skills and get better in visualizing details to be able to ' write what I can see '. Also, we arranged some meetings to discuss the process of doing the actors realese form, production schedule, and roles document which defines each member and the job that will be asked from him during the shoot. For example, the producer writes my name, and infront of it that I'm responsible for script breakdown, shot list, choosing actors, and giving a hand in the call sheets. For mentioning script breakdown, we're also learning the basic technique on how a person can breakdown every single detail of the scene into a table. As someone responsible for the script breakdown, I should never miss any detail that is related to my script. For example, I should mention Time of day, Description, props, actors, etc...
In my personal point of view in the past, I thought it was a lot easier to breakdown a certain script. but when I got responsible of doing one, that thought completly changed. If you missed a single prop, or a character, or even got the Time of day written in a wrong way, It would cause a mess during your film set where the director, and the other crew members will get mixed up and double check everything for another time. That all goes to skills we're in the process of learning during our classes. For our group projects, We're on step further than the stage we should be in. Luckily, we were able to finish the script and breaking it down into a table. We've also started to choose characters and personally I did small auditions for some people because the characters are the most important element for a successful movie or even a mockumentary. Right now, our DOP will start working on the storyboard so we can move ahead and start doing our shotlist. We have a lot of time due to finish all that work, But we want to finish all the paper work as soon as possible so we can have more time discussing more about details of shooting days and getting the location permits. So far, everything is going perfectly and smoothly, we're learning more and more and we're getting the required skills for us to know better about our field and of course to pass our Studio 1 class.
